GREAT topic Dan. I’ll love to read the responses. I will write on why the fuck I stay, after 39 years.

Interesting topic you chose to write about Kempner…sure helped me realize it’s been over 4 years since I left.

If I had to slot myself in one of those categories you outlined, dropout would seem the most appropriate.

A few reasons lead me to leave…some are no longer relevant, others are. I learned much wisdom from men I both was and wasn’t on teams with during my years in MDI (2006-2021). Many of the lessons I learned served me well in relationships, fatherhood, and love (to name a few), and continue to do so today.

I truly hope I’ve been able to give back some of that wisdom to other men, whether they be in MDI or not. Actually, that reminds of something about the work men do in MDI that might not always be remembered so readily.

Yes…men do leave for myriad reasons, but many have left changed for the better, and go on creating successful families, careers and communities through what they learned from the mentoring they received.

    1. Well said, Art. Your last point is one of the reasons I wanted to run this series – to see what the men who’ve left are up to, and if they carried on.

Good to hear from you, in any case, and I trust all is well.
