What is Fuck it!?
Out in the world, the term fuck it! is negative. “Ah, forget it, it’s stupid,” or “it’ll never work, why bother?”
But in MDI, the term fuck it! means something else. We grab our balls and yell “fuck iiiiit!!!” when we make the commitment to go to a Men’s Weekend, a Legacy Discovery, or to do anything difficult or scary. But where else does fuck it! show up in our lives and how does it show up? Let’s unbox fuck it! and find out.
Fuck it! is a five-step process. It involves
1. a question
2. an answer
3. enrollment
4. commitment
5. and action
Fuck it! can generate positive and powerful results, or negative results depending on the situation and what’s going on between our ears. Fuck it! also delivers the masculine experience of risk, courage, the unknown, doubt, and action or inaction.
When contemplating any decision, it always starts with a question of should I or shouldn’t I? and ends with a yes or no answer. Regardless of that answer, this is when fuck it! kicks in. Here are some examples of the five-step process we go through.
Dating
Positive: Should I ask her for a date? Yes, she’s really hot. I can do it and I’m going for it. Fuck iiiit!!!
“Will you go out with me?”
Negative: That chick is really hot. Should I ask her for a date? No, she won’t say yes. Fuck it.
Never mind.
Marriage
Should I ask her to marry me? I love her, and the relationship is going well. Yes, it’s time. I have my shit together and I can do this. Fuck It. “Will you marry me?”
Should I ask her to marry me? No. I’m not ready, I don’t have my shit together, and there are other things I still want to do. Fuck it. She’s not the one anyway even though she’s hot and really fun in bed.
Work
Should I ask for a raise at work? I’m good at what I do and I’ve done well budgeting the money I have been earning but I need more. Yes, I have to. Fuck It! “Hello boss, I’d like a raise in pay and these are the reasons why I think I deserve it.”
Should I put in notice at work and start the new business I’ve been thinking about? Fuck It! I’m putting in two weeks notice because it’s time to move onto bigger and better things.
Fuck It! goes beyond what we do in MDI. Fuck it! is a lifelong part of the masculine experience and is a part of every decision and commitment we make – one way or another.
