Advice, Knowledge And Insight For The Modern Man

“To cause greatness by mentoring men to live with excellence and, as mature masculine leaders, create successful families, careers and communities.”

Causing greatness…

This is the phrase that starts the mission statement for the men’s organization “Mentor Discover Inspire.”

It was written as a “purpose” by a 6-man team led by current MDI President Geoff Tomlinson and the late Kurt Thorne at an International Meeting in Los Angeles in 2008. According to Tomlinson, the “creation team” met outside on a front lawn under palm trees on a warm, Santa Ana wind, March afternoon. Present were women from the Family of Women at the same Internationals, and the mission was examined word for word with everyone in the room. Matt Lyons, of the Western Region, led the exercise to perfect what the team had written.

We all “cause greatness” in others and ourselves in various ways. Our own greatness has been caused by others just the same. The question becomes how can we continue this trend for the sake of everyone’s greatness in order to create a successful community?
